LBBA recognizes that revitalizing existing buildings is a critical element in the stabilization of neighborhoods. LBBA and their team have developed an expertise in masonry restoration, energy modernization, accessibility, and interior revitalization which leads to sustainable buildings and healthy living environments. The office believes that preserving the existing urban fabric is essential in upholding the character of Chicago neighborhoods. LBBA is a strong proponent of keeping and fortifying existing structures in public housing redevelopment programs.
Renovations are intended to modernize the interior and exterior of the building. To facilitate a greater sense of community among the residents, LBBA identifies opportunities to collaborate with local residents and outside designers. The office worked with several Chicago artists to install a glass mosaic tile mural at 850 W. Eastwood that reflected textiles from the 32 different nationalities represented in the building.
