The primary focus of the Architects in the Schools Program is to build lasting relationships with local elementary schools and students through the AIA sponsored Adopt-a-School program. The Adopt -a- School program brings local AIA Architectural Firms into the classroom to educate young people about the built environment, architecture and urban planning. Architects use “box city” a hands-on, interactive project, to engage students by drawing and making buildings while learning some fundamentals of what it takes to design communities for people.
